Alvin Alexis

Alvin Alexis is a native born New Yorker and has worked as an Independent Licensed Tour Guide for the last 14yrs. He is also a performing artist having worked in a variety of Film, TV, and Theatre. Alvin is very flexible and caters to the individual groups interest. He has worked with a variety of age ranges from elementary schools to senior citzens.

Matthew Cummings

Giving a good tour is not simply a matter of expounding a great deal of facts and figures or pointing out interesting buildings and celebrities homes. It is the art of telling the city's stories in an engaging, compelling and moving way. Matthew Cummings is a master of this art; he tells true and fascinating stories of New York's past and more recent history in a way that makes the brick and mortar whisper of those who walked these streets. Matthew is a native New Yorker, with antecedents going back to the original Dutch settlers of New Amsterdam, and a graduate of the City College of New York where he won the Ward Medal in History. His previous occupations have ranged from taxi driver to headhunter but since becoming a tour guide Matthew feels that he has found his calling!

Jared Goldstein

Jared enthusiastically and passionately showcases New York City's history, architecture, artistic, literary, ecological and social history, sharing dramatic stories, told with high-energy, intensity, dry humor, and intelligence. He enjoys the testimonials and photographs from repeat guests, local and from the other end of the globe.

He approaches guiding with dedication to customer service, friendliness, and a desire for clients to get the most from their tours. Jared's tour-style is interactive, appropriate for children to the elderly, including people with special physical needs. To liven things up, he includes NYC references from pop-culture

Jared pursues NYC research to improve his tours, and is working on two books about New York City. He is a proud New Yorker, showing off New York City for twenty-four years, professionally licensed with a 'Star' score on the 150-question NYC Consumer Affairs Department exam since 2005. He has served as Vice President of the Guides Association of NYC, and revived its publication as Editor. Jared was educated at Columbia University's College (B.A.) and its Graduate School of Business (M.B.A.).

Jon Kay

Jon Kay has been a licensed NYC Sightseeing Tour Guide and has provided tours privately throughout New York City for over nine years. Previously he was responsible for the planning, organizing and implementing of community related activities for a variety of agencies throughout New York City for twenty years. He has a Masters Degree in Urban Affairs from Hunter College in Manhattan specializing in Community Programming and Development. He has worked for Congressional Districts in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island and has worked with Community Boards in Brooklyn and Queens.

He has lived in the city since high school and his family has been residents of the Borough of Brooklyn for over a hundred years and still has a residence in Park Slope that he rent out and maintain. Four years ago along with his wife and daughter they moved to Upper Westchester and thus have become very familiar with the beautiful Hudson River Valley and have conducted tours here as well.

He is also a 15-time participant in the NYC Marathon and has commuted on his bicycle throughout the city for over 25 years.

Susan Katz

Susan (Sue) considers herself to be an "Urban Wildlife Interpreter". People in NYC live differently - not better, not worse - but differently. Sue prefers to introduce smaller groups of visitors to NYC attractions via foot, public buses and subways. Her favorite attraction is our 843-acre communal backyard - Central Park.  

There are no "standard" half-day or full day group bus tours. If you hire Sue for your group, she will want to know all about your group and your plans before and after the tour so she can customize her tour to you. Emily Liedel

Originally from Oregon, Emily lived in California, Switzerland, Russia and Spain before landing in New York City. Her most important life goal is to fluently speak all of the official languages of the United Nations - there are six, including English. She currently speaks Spanish, Russian and German and loves that she has the opportunity to speak all of those languages regularly in New York, both on the job as a tour guide and while enjoying everyday life in a city where almost half of the population speaks a language other than English at home.

Emily's other passion is flamenco, and she studies both dance and guitar.  If she ever gets tired of being a tour guide, she plans to open a flamenco studio.

Emily lives in a beautiful Harlem brownstone and she especially loves showing people around her neighborhood.

Paul Rush

Paul Rush has been guiding tours of New York for the past ten years and has served as history consultant/writer for the Travel Channel, the Blue Man Group and several interactive walking tour producers. He is presently completing a book of New York stories, tales that he tells during his walking tours of the city. Some of these tales can been found at www.paulrush-newyorkstories.blogspot.com. Before his passion for New York's history and architecture captured his attention he was a television and film documentary producer on the staff of the University of California, Berkeley and, later, a television news executive for Reuters in New York.

Susan Volchok

Susan Volchok is a native New Yorker whose work as a licensed NYC guide is the ultimate expression of her lifelong delight in showing off her city; she especially loves sharing her deep affection for it with newcomers, who are always surprised at how easy it is to start feeling at home here and start falling in love with this wonderful town. City guiding is also a natural expansion on her career as an urban fiction writer and essayist: she has published widely in journals and anthologies, as well as in mainstream magazines and newspapers, including The New York Times. Combining broad-ranging knowledge and an insider's comfortable familiarity with an insatiable curiosity about New York's lesser-known attractions, Susan especially enjoys leading visitors off the obvious, beaten paths—up into Riverside and Morningside Parks, for example, and beyond the basics of iconic Central Park. Yet she confesses she is one of the few longtime guides who still gets a thrill taking people to the top of the Empire State Building and watching their reactions to that first sweeping view of Manhattan and more.

Kevin Ward

Native New Yorker and licensed tour guide Kevin Ward has roots in the academic, corporate, and arts worlds; and more than fifteen years experience in touring New York City. He's an educator, urban historian, raconteur, trou-badour, waggish wit, and gourmet (who knows the locations of the best pastrami, pizza, and canoli in town!) A "people" person, Kevin entertains national and international visitors of all ages.

A lifetime of New York City "living" lets Kevin make New York City come "alive" for you - the sights, the sounds, the tastes, the scents, the feel, the very essence of "The Big Apple!"
